Art historian and stage director. Graduate of the Institute of the History of Art of the University of Warsaw and the State Academy of Drama in Warsaw. Winner of fellowships from the British Council and the US Department of State. Trained as a stage director under Peter Brook in Vienna. Since 2016 the director of Teatr Lalka in Warsaw. Professor of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw, for many years dean of the Directing Department at the Academy. In 1999–2010 the artistic director of Teatr Polski in Warsaw. Kilian directs operas, outdoor performances, plays for children, but first of all the European and Polish classics: the masterpieces of Słowacki, Fredro, Molière and Shakespeare (including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, As You Like It, The Tempest, and The Winter’s Tale). Awarded the Gloria Artis Medal.
