Theatre Primer

The series of workshops entitled “Theatre Primer” is addressed to school groups seeking fundamental knowledge about theatre—its creation and history and the rules under which it operates. Sessions will be held monthly from September 2019 to May 2020, with the aim of initiating participants into the mysteries of the theatre world. The workshops will be led by actors from Teatr Lalka and other artists affiliated with the theatre.

We propose the following topics for workshop sessions:
1. The theatre from backstage – 26 September 2019
2. A brief history of Teatr Lalka – 11 October 2019
3. Theatre etiquette: customs and superstitions – 13–14 November 2019
4. Actors and their role in dramatic theatre and puppet theatre – 14–15 January 2020
5. Puppet workshop – February 2020
6. Let’s make a stage design! – March 2020
7. What do we know about costumes and props in the theatre? – April 2020
8. Unrecognizable actors: the art of makeup – May 2020
9. Working with the orchestra – June 2020
